About PSU's Technical / Professional Writing Program

National surveys of corporate hiring practices repeatedly show that good communications skills consistently rank high on the list of factors that influence hiring decisions.  Our small class size and flexible curriculum allow students in this emphasis to prepare for jobs as technical writers and editors, corporate communications specialists, editors in the publishing industry, or other communications-related jobs in health, education, business, and community service organizations.

PSU Technical / Professional Writing alumni boast a 100% placement rate within the first two months after graduation.

Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, is home to more than 7,000 students and has a student-to-faculty ratio of 19-to-1.  More than 100 students major in English at Pittsburg state in one of four emphases:  Traditional Literature, Creative Writing, Technical / Professional Writing, and Language.  Each year, on average, we have fifteen to twenty Technical / Professional Writing majors in the undergraduate emphasis and eight to ten graduate students in the M.A. emphasis.
